"An excellent '97" - Dussert Gerber wine guide - FRANCE
The 2004 edition of the Dussert Gerber wine guide gives the following tasting notes for Château Mouton Rothschild 1997: "An excellent '97, full-bodied, rich on the nose and in the mouth, notes of blackberry and humus, beautifully balanced, firm tannins, an elegant palate, good ageing potential, a real success." (Edition 2004)

1997: bold and glorious - Wine & Spirits - UNITED STATES
Writing in Wine & Spirits, the journalists Joshua Greene and Tara Q. Thomas list their top one hundred wines, each in its own category. In "Best Bordeaux", they describe Château Mouton Rothschild 1997 as follows: "The pure hedonism of cassis rises out of the glass with the deep, throaty voice of a genie. Then oak carries the fruit ever higher in a dance of grace and verve, flashy, sexy, all about show. Yet underneath, it's grand and beautiful, lasting, bold and glorious. In other words, it's pure, unmistakable Mouton" (December 2001).
