| 1999 "Splendid" - Dussert Gerber wine guide - FRANCE The 2004 edition of the Dussert Gerber wine guide describes Château Mouton Rothschild 1999 as "splendid, harmonious on the nose and in the mouth, very concentrated, very intense, a deep purple colour, not yet fully open of course, but with highly complex flavours, hints of truffle and liquorice, a wine with a great future." (Edition 2004) "Lush, unctuous body" - Fleurus wine guide - FRANCE The 2004 edition of the Fleurus wine guide completes its tasting notes for Château Mouton Rothschild 1999 by reminding readers of the ideal conditions for keeping and drinking the wine. Mentioning its "black colour, just beginning to shade", its "discreet but profound nose" and "lush, unctuous body", the guide says that the wine should be laid down until at least 2020 and will be at its peak from 2022. It should be served in a carafe at an ideal temperature of 17° C and decanted three hours beforehand. (September 2003) "The finest of fine wines" - Dussert-Gerber Wine guide - FRANCE France Wine critic Patrick Dussert-Gerber devotes a long article to Château Mouton Rothschild in his 2003 Guide, describing the 1999 vintage as follows: "This Pauillac 99 is splendid, equally harmonious on the nose and the palate, highly concentrated, very intense, with a deep purple colour (…) Highly complex aromas and flavours with notes of truffle and liquorice. A wine with a great future". (September 2002) Aristocratic 1999 - La Revue du Vin de France - FRANCE In its 2001 wine-buyer's guide, La Revue du Vin de France gives the ageing potential of Château Mouton Rothschild 1999 as 2005-2015, describing it as "supple, highly refined, aristocratic, tending towards suavity" (September 2001). 1999: unctuous and elegant - Vintage International magazine - FRANCE Writing in Vintage International magazine, Agnès Bruguière comments on Château Mouton Rothschild's success in the 1999 vintage, a difficult year for Bordeaux winemakers: "A superb nose on which blackberry and bilberry mingle harmoniously. The attack is particularly unctuous and elegant; full-bodied fruit (cherry and bilberry) goes well with refined, compact tannins, extending into a lingering finish. A wine of very considerable distinction" (August/September 2000) A must - Figaro Magazine - FRANCE In a special feature on French wines and winemakers, Figaro Magazine gives a selection of wines in which Mouton Rothschild is described as "a must" (August 25, 2001). |
